Everyman 3

Last week I changed over to the Everyman 3 schedule. The reason being that I was developing a pattern of going 2 full days on Uberman and then crashing for several hours at a time on the third. These crashes generally summed up to around 6 or 7 hours of sleep on that day. I repeated this cycle 3 times and then decided to attempt the easier Everyman adaptation. I have successfully adapted to Everyman in the past and held it for over a month. So from this point forward I'm using a 3 hour core with 3 20 minute naps spaced throughout the day.

Starting Over

This week I got caught up in work on a couple web design projects and blew right through a few naps, ended up crashing for a few hours ... repeated this a few times. Then I had a Mid-Term in my summer class so I had a prolonged group study session and then decided to get a decent night sleep afterwards. Which leaves me starting over today. I've hit both my afternoon naps so far as will see how I do over the weekend. I've also decided that I could write a couple small programs to help people attempting polyphasic sleep to schedule their naps and also maybe an automatic alarm program. I'll have to look into it more later. Back to web design.

Day 1 - Rough Start

Day 1 didn't go so well, my first two naps I slept through my Nap Track but I did hit my next two naps at 23 minutes. I overslept my 5th nap and therefore decided to skip my 6th.

Summary:
Nap 1: 80 minute (Earbud fell out so missed alarm)
Nap 2: 120 minute (Slept through Nap Tracks)
Nap 3: 23 minute (50% sleep)
Nap 4: 23 minute (25% sleep)
Nap 5: 95 minute (Deep Sleep, disoriented on wakeup)
Nap 6: Skipped.
Total: 5.68 hours (way over the 2 hour goal sleep time)

I also overslept my second nap for today by about 3 hours. Basically, I need to start setting multiple alarms because if I'm sleeping too deeply I missing the Nap Track alarm.

Going to publish my schedule and deals about the tools I'm using in static pages later today.

Polyphasic Sleep Experiment

Welcome to my personal Polyphasic Sleep Experiment. I intend to attempt to adapt to a polyphasic sleep schedule throughout this summer. I have attempted this in the past and was successful for a short period but got caught up in school and exams and therefore fell out of the program. The point of this experiment is primarily to gain the ability to achieve REM sleep during short 20 minute nap and wake up energized and refreshed. My career path will not allow me to adopt a polyphasic sleep schedule over the long term but the ability to be revitalized by short naps should allow me to be more productive for the rest of my life. The second and obvious benefit being more time for me to work on several projects throughout the experiment. I intend to use this blog to record my experience for myself as well as share my experience with other and maybe receive some feedback or advise from others who have tried this.

Experiment Outline:

Uberman Adaptation: 4 June to 30 June
EveryMan 3 Adaptation: 1 July to 10 August
